Am I covered for accidental damage if I cause the crash?

Updated yesterday

Does Laka cover accidents caused by my own mistake?

Yes we do, provided you have the Complete package active on your insurance schedule. At Laka, we know that accidents happen-whether it was a lapse in concentration or a bit of "rider error," The Collective has your back. However, this specific protection is only available to members on our Complete package. If you are on this package, you are fully covered for these incidents, as we define an "Accident" as a sudden, unintended, and unforeseen event.

Why is the Complete package required for accidental damage?

To keep things fair for The Collective, we offer different tiers of protection based on your needs. There is a strict distinction between our modules regarding crash damage:

  • Complete Cover: This package is required for accidental damage. It ensures that if the damage to your bicycle was not planned, the cost of repair or replacement is covered, even if you were "at fault."

  • Core Cover: No we don't cover crash damage or rider error under the Core plan. This level of protection is restricted to theft and damage caused during an attempted theft.

Your monthly contribution is calculated based on which package you choose to protect your gear.

What are the exclusions for accidental damage?

While The Collective does not punish mistakes or accidental "rider error," we do have a strict exclusion for intentional acts. Any damage that is the result of a deliberate act committed by you is not covered. We are here to protect the community against the unforeseen, not intentional damage.
