We know we might not always be the cheapest option in a 'race-to-the-bottom' on price, but we’re confident that Laka offers the best value when you look at the total package.
When comparing us to other insurers, here are a few things to keep in mind:
Choice of Cover: We offer two tiers so you only pay for what you need. Core covers you for the essentials like theft and loss, while Complete adds accidental damage as standard.
Flexible Add-ons: Things like Travel & Racing are optional add-ons. You can switch them on when you’re heading abroad and off when you’re back home, so you’re only paying for that extra cover when you actually need it.
Who handles the claims? Many insurers outsource claims to third parties. Our claims are handled in-house by bike experts who know exactly what you’re going through.
Is there a hidden excess? Most insurers charge an excess when you claim. At Laka, we don’t believe in 'punishing' you for using the service you pay for, so we don't charge an excess.
Will they devalue your bike? Most insurers apply 'depreciation'—meaning the older your bike gets, the less they pay out. We provide new-for-old replacements regardless of your bike's age, up to your insured value.
True Flexibility: Unlike 12-month contracts, you can pause or cancel your policy at any time. To keep things fair for the rest of the collective, we only have a 30-day commitment period when you reactivate a policy or upgrade your cover (like switching from Core to Complete or enabling an add-on). This ensures everyone is contributing fairly to the shared pot.
