We appreciate you may not want to carry a gold-rated lock on every bike ride, they can be heavy.

If your bicycle is stolen whilst it is attended - aka within touching distance we consider this a mugging and it is covered under our theft cover.

If you are unable to attend and visit a Cafe, you'll need to bring a lock with you. "Attended" could mean another member of your cycling group.

We have to judge each claim independently, but as a rule of thumb if you are not capable of attempting to prevent the theft of your bike, we’d consider it to be unattended. But don’t worry, we’re not saying you have to put yourself in danger and try to stop a thief!

If your bike is stolen whilst it is unattended and NOT locked with a gold-rated lock to an immovable object, your claim may be rejected.
