How do I check if my bike lock is Sold Secure Gold rated?

Updated this week

How do I identify and use a Sold Secure Gold rated lock?

To keep things fair for the Collective and ensure everyone is taking the right steps to prevent theft, Laka has specific lock requirements for when you're out and about.

How do I identify a Sold Secure Gold rated lock?

There are two easy ways to verify if your lock meets Laka's mandatory standards:

  1. Look for the Logo: Check the lock or its original packaging for the official Sold Secure Gold or Diamond logo.

  2. Verify Online: If you no longer have the packaging, look up your specific brand and model on the official Sold Secure website.

Most reputable lock brands will clearly display this rating as it is the UK industry benchmark for high-security locks.

A Note on Cable Locks

Be careful**,** most standalone cable locks do not carry a Sold Secure Gold rating, even those bundled with a Gold-rated U-lock. Because cable locks are easily "snipped" with basic tools, they should only be used as a secondary measure (e.g., for wheels or saddles), never as your primary lock.
