What is the difference between clothing and accessories?

Updated this week

What is the difference between clothing and accessories?

To keep your cover clear and fair for the collective, Laka distinguishes between what you wear (textiles) and the extra hardware you use to enhance your ride. Both are considered Insured Gear, but they are grouped differently on your Policy Schedule.

What does Laka count as Clothing?

Laka defines Clothing specifically as any textile item worn by you while cycling. Think of these as the fabrics that keep you comfortable and aerodynamic. This category typically includes:

  • Jerseys and base layers

  • Bib shorts and tights

  • Jackets and gilets

What does Laka count as an Accessory?

Accessories refers to hardware and tech items associated with your bicycle's use. This category includes your electronics and non-textile protective gear:

  • GPS units and bike computers

  • Helmets

  • Cycling shoes

  • Sunglasses and goggles

What is the total coverage limit for clothing and accessories?

While Laka defines them differently, both Clothing and Accessories are subject to a combined total value limit of £2,000.

When you add these items to your gear list, ensure you have listed everything you would need to replace at once. If the total replacement value of these items exceeds £2,000, that is the maximum amount the collective can pay out for a single claim.
